The Underwriting Assistant will be focused on using the automation systems to plan, coordinate and complete a high volume of transactions (e.g., obtaining information and managing account documentation such as proposals, internal risk evaluation documents, etc.), in support of our Underwriters or Agency representatives. Your job is to make it easy to get things done by providing fast, high quality service experiences.   Responsible for prepping new business issues, book consolidation quotes, renewal transactions, essential services, and direct support to the Underwriters. Communicates with Agent to obtain needed and required underwriting information. Uses Policy Center and other automation systems to plan, coordinate and complete work. **WORK ARRANGEMENTS** : This role can have a Hybrid or Remote work arrangement.  Candidates who live near one of our office locations (Charlotte, NC, San Antonio, TX, Clinton, NY) will have the expectation of working in an office 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).   Candidates who do not live near an office will have a remote work arrangement, with the expectation of coming into an office as business needs arise. **LOCATION: Remote / Hybrid** **STATE DATE: April 20, 2026** **TRAINING HOURS: Mon – Fri: 9:30am - 6:00pm EST for 6-8 weeks.** **WORKING HOURS: Your hours will fall between 7:30 am – 6:30 pm local time, Mon-Fri. Flexibility required twice monthly due to schedule change.** **RESPONSIBILITIES:** · Provide support for a wide variety of business insurance products and services · Identify forward-thinking solutions that resolve both stated and un-stated needs, making it easier to do business with The Hartford · Maintain a high level of performance measured by quality objectives and service performance indicators and behaviors · Ability to Multi-task and Task-switching a plus · Ability to be flexible in all circumstances · Effective communication skills **FUNCTIONAL SKILLS:** · Must have a high-level attention to detail · Critical thinking · Accountability · Ability to influence · Innovative · Highly proficient in Policy Center, Icon a plus · Reducing Customer effort **QUALIFICATIONS:** · High school graduate or equivalent certification. · High level of accountability and ownership · Strong Desk Management Skills · Ability to influence others internally and externally · Robust understanding of Small Commercial Products · Employ analytical thinking and problem-solving skills · Understanding the root cause of problems **INTERNET REQUIREMENTS** : For full-time, occasional, part-time or remote positions: (1) high speed broadband internet service is required, we do not recommend or support DSL, wireless, Mifi, Hotspots, Fiber without a modem and Satellite; (2) Internet provider supplied modem/router/gateway is hardwired to the Hartford issued computer with an ethernet cable; and (3) minimum upload/download speeds of 10Mbps/300Mbps will be required. **Compensation** The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition.
