Job Description

Cox Automotive is hiring a Strategic Planning Sr. Manager to play a critical role in shaping and executing strategic initiatives that drive growth across our assurance product portfolio. This role partners closely with business leaders to translate strategic priorities into actionable plans, ensuring new and existing products are positioned to deliver measurable value in the marketplace. By combining analysis with execution, this role helps guide investment, scaling, and strategic adjustments in support of long‑term business objectives.

The role is responsible for leading the commercialization of new assurance products while actively managing and optimizing the current portfolio. By working closely across the organization, it ensures strategic initiatives progress from concept to launch with clear value propositions, pricing strategies, and adoption plans. The role evaluates product performance and recommends actions to maximize ROI and prioritize high‑value opportunities.

Maintaining a strong external perspective, this role continuously monitors competitive dynamics, market trends, and evolving customer needs. By combining internal performance data with external insights, it provides informed recommendations that influence strategic direction, product positioning, pricing decisions, and market entry or exit considerations. Success in this role requires the ability to balance strategic thinking with hands‑on execution, operate effectively in ambiguity, and communicate clearly with stakeholders at multiple levels of the organization.

Location: Hybrid (Atlanta, GA preferred) – flexible within the U.S.

Travel: 0 – 25%

This position will not initially have direct reports, however future team management is possible.

Primary Duties / Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with business leaders to define and execute strategic initiatives that support growth objectives, translating strategic priorities into actionable plans that can be operationalized across the business.
  • Lead the end‑to‑end commercialization of new assurance products from concept to launch, including market validation, pricing strategy, value proposition development, and channel strategy to drive adoption and revenue growth.
  • Manage and optimize the current product portfolio by analyzing performance metrics, identifying underperforming or declining products, and ensuring resources are allocated to highest-value opportunities that align with strategic priorities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop actionable strategic plans that identify what's next for the business, evaluating new market opportunities, assessing product-market fit, determining investment priorities, and making build/buy/partner recommendations to drive sustainable growth.
  • Conduct ongoing analysis of competitive landscape, market trends, and customer needs to identify threats and opportunities; translate insights into strategic recommendations on positioning, differentiation, pricing, and market entry/exit decisions that maintain competitive advantage.

Required Experience & Specialized Knowledge and Skills

  • BS/BA degree in a related discipline with 8 years of experience in a related field; or MS/MA degree in a related discipline with 6 years of experience in a related field; or Ph.D. in a related discipline with 3 years of experience in a related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply strong analytical, business, and financial judgment to complex problems, including evaluating tradeoffs and making data‑driven recommendations that inform strategic decisions.
  • Experience conducting market, competitive, and performance analysis, using insights to identify opportunities, assess risk, prioritize initiatives, and measure outcomes.
  • Proven ability to translate strategy into action, anticipating gaps or risks and adapting direction based on real‑time feedback and changing conditions.
  • Proficiency with data analysis tools and methodologies to support strategic analysis, scenario modeling, and performance evaluation.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to clearly convey complex ideas and recommendations across multiple levels of the organization.
  • Comfort operating in ambiguous, fast‑moving environments, managing multiple workstreams and delivering high‑quality outcomes within required timeframes.
