Role Summary

In this position, you will be on the front lines providing technical support for our charging field service technicians, as well as engineering and manufacturing teams. You will work closely with cross-functional stakeholders to analyze, improve, and document charging systems and operational processes at Rivian. This position is remote and will include approximately 50% travel. You will report directly to the Sr. Manager, Charging Field Service.

 

Responsibilities

  • Support the commissioning and maintenance of all EVSE equipment in the field; Audit construction drawings and evaluate the installation, configuration, and operation of all systems.
  • Document commissioning details; communicate deficiencies and progress.
  • Identify code and non-conformance issues with equipment and installations.
  • Track equipment failures and findings from the field and report back to engineering and manufacturing teams to support continuous product improvement and program growth.
  • Audit existing and create new service work instructions to allow field service technicians to operate and repair equipment independently and to propagate lessons learned to the entire team.
  • Work alongside the learning and development team to develop and evaluate training content and programs for new technicians and facilitate the continuing education of existing technicians.
  • Provide technical guidance to field service technicians and feedback found issues to constantly improve the product and the technicians' skill levels. Identify training opportunities and knowledge gaps.
  • Systematically troubleshoot complex issues, work cross-functionally to identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Occasionally audit equipment at factory end of line for overall quality, adherence to manufacturing process improvements, and commission ability
  • Create detailed test and inspection reports based on operational requirements and code compliance.
  • Work with data analytics team to present data to leadership and cross functional stakeholders on product improvement and emerging serviceability requirements. 
  • Travel both in and out of home-market service territory as needed.
  • Monitor the overall service program performance within your region, identifying strategic opportunities for improvement.
  • Represent the Rivian brand to customers.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned within the scope of the position.

 

Qualifications

  • Journeyman Electrical License or Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering degree preferred
  • 5+ with years of experience in the EVSE industry (EVSE/PV/energy-storage a plus)
  • High school diploma or state recognized GED required
  • Understanding of the NEC codes that relate to commercial installation and certification of NFPA 70E
  • Understanding of high, medium, and low voltage system components
  • Familiar with IoT networking systems configuration
  • Ability to operate in several different software platforms for tracking, reporting, and communication including Salesforce, JIRA, Confluence (wiki), MS Office, Slack
  • Thorough and professional written and verbal communications
  • Ability to read and understand design schematics, construction documents, and technical repair guides.
  • Ability to work in a variety of circumstances, including:
    • climbing ladders/scaffolds/high-lift equipment
    • outdoors and indoors during hot, cold, or inclement weather
  • Ability to use hand tools, diagnostic equipment (digital multi-meter, power meter, etc), laptop/table, smartphone
  • Comfortable carrying/moving tools and equipment up to 60-lbs. unassisted
  • Excellent time management skills, coordinating travel and provisioning logistics to ensure work is completed within contractual SLA periods
  • The ability to travel up to 50%
  • Minimum age of 21
  • No driving related suspensions or revocation of Driver License (within a 3-5 year period)
  • Ability to read and speak fluent English
  • No drug or alcohol related driving incidents in the last 3 years
  • No more than 1 serious moving violation in the last 3 years
  • Must have a valid driver's license in the state of residence that you will be driving/operating a vehicle
  • Will be subject to continuous Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) monitoring

 

Salary Range/Hourly Rate for California, Colorado, and Ithaca, NY Based Applicants: $104,000 to $150,000 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).

Benefits Summary: Rivian provides robust medical/Rx, dental and vision insurance packages for full-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Coverage is effective on the first day of employment, and Rivian covers most of the premiums.
