As a Qualcomm IE-IoT Platform Architecture Hardware Senior Staff Engineer, you will architect, plan, design, optimize, verify, and test electronic systems, circuits, Digital/Analog/RF/optical systems, and test systems, which launch cutting-edge, world class products in the IoT market space. Qualcomm Engineers collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop solutions to meet performance requirements. A successful candidate should have advanced knowledge and experience in cutting edge and complex system architecture and design within a wide range of topologies from handheld mobile devices to industrial systems. Prior experience in component selection, electrical design, and PCB design, with working knowledge in PCB manufacturing, CCA assembly, and Final Assembly and Test are required. Responsibilities • Leverages Advanced Hardware knowledge to architect, design, develop, modify, and evaluate critical electronic systems, components, and PCB layout for retail and industrial electronic equipment. • Collaborates with internal or 3rd party manufacturing POCs to fabricate hardware, leads verification of systems or designs, and ensures platform meets requirements. • Guides internal or 3rd party engineering teams on appropriate design methodologies to implement system per required specifications. • Conducts detailed reviews and analysis of designs to ensure implementation meets appropriate power, performance, area, compliance, and arenaflex. • Coordinates or conducts specialized analyses (e.g., feasibility studies, signal integrity, power integrity, etc.) to verify design performance. • Defines and documents requirements for complex technical platforms, system specifications, input/output, operational parameters, and arenaflex. • Evaluates reliability of critical materials, properties, and techniques and brings innovation, automation, and optimization to maximize productivity. • Integrates complex features and functionality into hardware designs in line with proposals or roadmaps for complex products. • Writes detailed technical documentation for complex Hardware projects inline with industry and Qualcomm standard practices. • Defines and maintain project schedules, budgets, and deliverables. • Leads cross functional design meetings as appropriate to support project deliverables. • Mentors interns and peers on design practices and methodologies to advance in their careers. Requirements • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or related field and 6+ years of Hardware Engineering or related work experience. • OR Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or related field and 5+ years of Hardware Engineering or related work experience. • OR PhD in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or related field and 4+ years of Hardware Engineering or related work experience. Nice-to-haves • Master's Degree in Engineering or related field. • 12+ years of experience with hardware system design, system integration, schematic capture, and circuit simulation software. • 6+ years of experience with hardware system validation and measurement instruments (e.g., oscilloscopes, arenaflex analyzers, RF tools). • 2+ years of experience working in a large matrixed organization. • 1+ year in a technical leadership role with or without direct reports. • Experience with diverse system architectures from handheld to industrial PCs.
