Essential Function You have a sharp instinct for video storytelling, from nailing timing and hooks to knowing which trends are worth jumping on and which ones to leave behind. You understand how to create content that feels native to each platform and never forced, while still being performance driven. While you may not be a traditional copywriter, you know how to write witty, on-brand captions and real-time responses that resonate with a beauty online audience. Above all, you are deeply tapped into culture, both online and in real life, and know how to translate what is happening now into content people actually want to watch, save, share, and engage with. This role exists to bring the Sally Beauty brand and campaigns to life through owned social content that is timely, relevant, and culturally fluent. The Sr. Social Content Specialist is responsible for managing and the creation of social content and execution, driving engagement and audience growth, curating and sourcing UGC, and producing high-quality content across the Sally Beauty social portfolio. This role partners closely with the Sr. Manager, Social Media to execute against the editorial calendar and brand strategy while keeping the brand at the forefront of culture and conversation.

Responsibilities

  • Researches and identifies insights, trends, and opportunities to elevate social content
  • Contributes to monthly content calendars
  • Contributes to the creative ideation, content capture, and editing of brand activations to keep the brand at the forefront of pop culture
  • Monitor social trends, platform updates, and audience engagement to inform content strategies.
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute fresh ideas for growth and engagement.
  • Ensure all content adheres to brand guidelines and maintains a consistent voice and aesthetic.
  • Analyze performance metrics and provide recommendations for ongoing improvement.
  • Write original social copy that sounds human, adapts to each platform, and knows when to adjust for different audiences.
  • Help ideate, capture, and edit content around brand activations, keeping things timely, culturally plugged-in, and never late to the moment.
  • Think fast and create faster, jumping on cultural moments while they're still peaking.
  • Stay curious about internet trends, formats, and behaviors, and know which ones are worth chasing.
  • Be hands-on throughout the process, from concepting to production, and comfortable jumping in wherever needed
  • Supports the Social Media Manager with content ideation for always-on brand content and campaign needs
  • Identifies and tracks social trends to inform content plans and opportunities to insert Sally Beauty into relevant online conversations
  • Creates and edits planned and reactive, quick-turn social content including video, static, and lightweight animation, adhering to brand guidelines
  • Supports live event coverage and photoshoot coverage on campaign sets to drive engagement
  • Manages social content tracking, organization, and reporting within systems
  • Assists with Creator Collective management, including briefing, sourcing, tracking, reviewing, and budgeting
  • Coordinates product shipping and fulfillment for giveaways, surprise and delight, and influencer sampling
  • Conducts daily moderation and engagement across brand social channels
  • Responds to comments and engages proactively with followers, relevant brands, and creators
  • Identifies UGC opportunities and requests permission to repost in accordance with brand guidelines
  • Supports social media reporting and performance analysis with the ability to identify immediate optimization opportunities
  • Stays current on social content trends and applies relevant learnings to brand content
  • Completes weekly and monthly social performance reports with recommendations for improvement
  • Creates and schedules content across social platforms

Requirements

  • 4 - 5 years of social media marketing experience supporting a large-scale brand, with a focus on organic social content and post creation. Beauty industry experience preferred.
  • 1 to 3 years of hands-on experience creating social content from concept through execution.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or a related field.
  • Strong working knowledge of leading social platforms including Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and Pinterest, with an understanding of platform-specific creative formats.
  • Experience using social management and creative tools preferred, including Sprinklr, CreatorIQ, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and Notion.
  • Demonstrated ability to take ideas from concept to production with a hands-on, execution-focused approach.
  • Compelling online portfolio showcasing creative versatility, conceptual thinking, and strong execution across social platforms.
  • Willingness to work occasional weekends and travel for photoshoots and events.
  • Strong understanding of social performance metrics and the ability to use insights to inform content optimization.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment.
  • Self-driven, adaptable, and collaborative with strong written, verbal, and analytical communication skills.
  • Experience reacting quickly to cultural moments and translating them into relevant social content.
  • Strong understanding of design principles, creative workflows, and feedback-driven iteration.
  • Proactive communicator and problem solver with a strong sense of ownership.
