WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE JOB:
The Senior Director, Enterprise Communications is a high-profile leader who will drive a critical internal and external communications agenda aimed at enabling the Red Cross to deliver its mission.  From an external standpoint, this role will be responsible for developing and executing an enterprise-level reputation management plan across paid, earned, shared and owned channels as well as managing issues and crisis communications as needed. Internally, this role will focus on building and executing a comprehensive internal communications plan that educates, engages and inspires our employees. This person must bring a strategic mindset and highly adaptable leadership approach, be comfortable leading through influence and effective in counseling and collaborating with senior-level leaders, including the CEO. This job requires a deep understanding of the various lines of business and the ability to work closely with them to reach their goals. This role is a member of the communications senior leadership team and manages other internal functions of the Communications Team, such as measurement & reporting as well as the American Red Cross archives.

The work location for this position is 100% virtual/work from home. While the position can be worked from anywhere in the United States, preference to work an East coast or central time zone business hours.


WHERE YOUR CAREER IS A FORCE FOR GOOD (Key Responsibilities):
·    Develop and execute enterprise reputation management plan across paid, earned, shared and owned channels that reinforces support and trust in the Red Cross among communities, partners, donors and mission-enabling stakeholders.
·    Develop and execute innovative employee communications plans that leverage existing or new channels, lead as key point person for internal communications efforts for corporate-wide projects/initiatives, support leadership visibility and communications needs.
·    Oversee communications monitoring and reporting capabilities to ensure impact and value of efforts are demonstrated effectively.
·    Oversee team managing Red Cross archives.
·    Work with leaders and cross-functional teams to respond to issues and manage crisis communications efforts as needed.
·    As member of Communications leadership team, collaborate with peers to set strategic agenda for overall function, deliver communications that advance Red Cross mission, develop staff and capabilities of modernized function.
·    Manage five direct reports in a virtual environment.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED (required/minimum qualifications):
•    Education: Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing or related field.
•    Experience: 10+ years of related experience.
•    7 years staff management experience required.
•    A transformational leader with experience developing and executing external and internal communications campaigns activated across many channels.
•    Experience developing and leading communications strategy for dynamic organizations that have experienced significant change.
•    Have a track record of working with and counseling senior management and ability to interact with and influence all levels of an organization.
•    Strong background in media relations, social media and executive visibility, as well as experience managing crisis communications and working with cross-functional team to gain alignment.
•    Proven ability to communicate plans across a matrix on a corporate, regional and functional basis.
•    Strong self-starter, relationship builder and strategic thinker.
•    Must have exceptional writing abilities and presentation skills; able to effectively communicate around complex topics for a diverse set of internal and external audiences.
•    Comfort working quickly and in compressed timelines.
•    Understanding of new digital technologies and applications; familiar with a mobile first approach.
•    May be asked to be on 24-hour call during period of major disaster.


WHAT WILL GIVE YOU THE COMPETITIVE EDGE (Preferred Qualifications):
·    15+ years related experience.
·    Experience working in range of environments (corporate, agency environment, non-profit)

Physical Requirements
Physical requirements are those present in normal office environment conditions. Operational flexibility is required to meet sudden and unpredictable needs. Ability to use a personal computer, applicable software, and office equipment for sustained periods of time. May include sitting for long periods of time, driving a vehicle, and working under challenging conditions.

PAY INFORMATION:
The annual salary range for this position is $150K - $200K. We do not offer an annual bonus for this role.

Note that American Red Cross salaries are aligned to the specific geographic location in which the work is primarily performed. Other factors that may be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have and comparison to other employees already in this role. **We will review specific salary information at the time of phone screening based upon your location & experience.**

This job will be posted for a minimum of five business days and extended if the applicant pool needs to be expanded.
