About the position A full-time role, this position will support Chick-fil-A in its international expansion by providing transactional counsel on a wide range of transactional engagements by Chick-fil-A and its international subsidiaries. As part of the Legal Department, this position will advise multiple international business units on a wide range of dynamic legal and business matters, including commercial transactions, negotiating vendor contracts, and general corporate issues. This position will interact with leaders within the Legal Department and specialists across the business to advise, educate and strategize on a wide variety of complex issues that impact the company. The attorney in this role will also directly manage outside counsel both in the US and abroad. The right person for this role will (i) work effectively across many different business units, time zones, functions and teams, (ii) have strong legal and business acumen and independently provide expertise and practical legal advice on commercial transactions, (iii) continually seek new and creative solutions to challenging business situations, including risk allocation and negotiation strategy, (iv) have strong negotiating skills consistent with company values and business objectives, (v) coordinate effectively with senior business leaders and other decision makers to align on desired outcomes, (vi) influence strategic direction of critical business objectives, (vii) skillfully manage multiple projects and workstreams, and (viii) thrive in a positive, team-oriented environment. Responsibilities • Advise on a wide range of legal matters and independently lead and influence business decisions relating to supplier engagements across multiple business units, including resolving complex legal issues and sophisticated business initiatives associated with an innovative, multi-national business • Identify, analyze, and effectively communicate key legal and business issues and potential solutions in proposed supplier engagements and other matters • Provide direction, strategy, legal counsel, and risk analysis on matters that require a high touch due to their potential system-wide operational impact and layered complexities that impact many business teams or departments • Thorough knowledge of multiple legal disciplines with a wide variety of demands and independent control of objectives and priorities • Manage outside counsel and related budget • Participate in strategy setting that will best support the established objectives of the business units being served • Participate in strategy setting on process and innovation for the Legal-International team • Lead or serve on cross-functional teams and attend business meetings to provide legal advice and strategic counsel to business partners across the organization • Develop and lead training programs and materials for business teams regarding the company’s commercial transactions and contracting work • Attend outside seminars and other business-related events related to issues relevant to the role; stay current on legal developments, including applicable laws Requirements • 7+ years of relevant work experience • 4 year college degree • J.D. Degree from accredited law school with demonstrated academic success • State Bar Membership in good standing • Deep knowledge of commercial law, including contracts and functionalknowledge of technology, privacy, anti-trust, intellectual property, marketing, employment and other laws in the context of commercial transactions • Relevant law firm and/or in-house corporate experience • Outstanding writing, editing, organizational, and communication skills • High level of initiative with ability to formulate long and short-term objectives and policy setting in areas of responsibility • Strong experience in producing work product that aligns with corporate goals • Ability to partner with senior leadership (including executive level leadership) and support cross-functional projects and cross-functional teams • Competence in the use of technology and standard MS Office applications • Excellent planning and organizational skills with the ability to manage a wide variety of shifting demands and tight deadlines with independent control of objectives Nice-to-haves • 8+ years of experience in commercial transactions • Large law firm or in-house experience preferred • Experience with technology transactions or international transactions Apply tot his job
