    • Design and development across frontend, backend, data, and integration layers, delivering complex, production-grade systems.
    • Design and implement scalable, distributed solutions using modern languages and frameworks such as Java, Node.js, Python, Spring Boot, JavaScript, and API-driven architectures.
    • Microservices and componentized architectures, applying containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud-native services to build cloud-first, loosely coupled systems.
    • Event-driven and integration architectures, including event streaming (Kafka), synchronous and asynchronous communication patterns, and service contracts.
    • Multiple integration styles and data formats, including REST, SOAP, JSON, Avro, and XML, with a clear understanding of trade-offs.
    • AWS application architecture experience, designing, building, and deploying cloud-native solutions using services such as IAM, ALB/ELB, Lambda, Step Functions, SNS/SQS, DynamoDB, Aurora, and CloudWatch.

  • Architect for critical non-functional requirements including security, high availability, scalability, resilience, extensibility, maintainability, and performance engineering.
  • Provide hands-on AWS architectural leadership, establishing cloud-native patterns, automation/IaC, and secure governance across environments and accounts.
  • Establish full-stack observability and operational excellence across distributed services.
  • Ensure architectural solutions are designed as reusable building blocks (APIs/microservices/platform capabilities) that compose flexible solutions and deliver excellent user and developer experience.
  • Continuously assess current-state technology, proactively identify gaps/overlaps, and recommend rationalization and investment opportunities; lead technology evaluations and selections when needed.
  • Apply strong insurance industry and platform domain understanding to make informed decisions on product usage, vendor capabilities, and long-term investment strategy at MassMutual.
  • Exposure to legacy and back-office systems, including batch-oriented processing, with experience modernizing or integrating them into cloud-based architectures.
  • Solid understanding of software design patterns and architectural modeling, using appropriate tools and techniques to communicate and validate design decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead architecture and system design discussions, facilitate design reviews, and influence technical decisions across teams.
  • Strong collaboration skills, working effectively with globally distributed teams, external vendors, and third-party partners.
  • Proven technical leadership and mentorship, guiding engineers and raising the overall bar for architecture, code quality, and operational excellence.
