As a Senior/Principal Data Scientist, you will be a strategic thought partner to our product and engineering leadership, specifically aligning with the Ecosystem team to help shape the future of the Roblox Creator community. You will work directly with VP-level leadership to define novel game strategies, identify content gaps, and determine how we foster a diverse community of proficient creators. This is a high-visibility strategy role where you will own the science and messaging behind what Roblox should invest in next. You will report to the Head of Data Science for the Creator Group. Responsibilities • Drive Strategic Influence: Act as the primary advisor for investment decisions regarding platform genres and content, providing the data-driven "why" behind high-level content strategy and roadmaps. • Shape the Ecosystem: Define metrics and conduct causal studies to value and understand experiences and content, ensuring Roblox excels across every genre from platformers to first-person shooters. • Accelerate Creator Velocity: Partner with our Developer Relation teams as it empowers our creators to do their best work. Provide data insights helping them optimize monetization, advertising, and overall game strategy. • Innovate with ML: Develop models for early identification of promising content and creators to proactively support the next generation of thriving businesses. • Lead through Mentorship: Provide technical expertise and mentorship that multiplies the contributions of data scientists across the organization, promoting excellence in analytics. • Define Success: Design complex experiments and causal inference frameworks to quantify the impact of product feature launches on the overall health of the platform. Requirements • Advanced Academic Background: A MSc or PhD in Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, Applied Math, or a related quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience. • Extensive Industry Experience: 10+ years of post-PhD experience (or equivalent) in Data Science, with a track record of leading complex, cross-functional projects at a global scope. • Deep understanding of the gaming market or content strategy work (e.g., streaming platforms, digital marketplaces). • Technical Mastery: Expert-level knowledge of A/B testing, statistics, and causal inference in complex, mediated settings. • Communication Excellence: A proven ability to influence VPs and executive audiences, translating deep technical concepts into meaningful strategic narratives. • Strategic Vision: Experience developing a roadmap and tooling in nascent areas, transforming raw data into actionable business growth.
