Job Title: Senior Engineer - Protection & Control Department: Protection & Control Reports to: Supervisor - Protection & Control Work Type: Office Location: Orange, CT; Rochester, Kirkwood, NY; Augusta, ME Salary Range: The base salary for this position is dependent upon experience and location: $94,000 to $120,500 (NY and ME locations) $103,000 to $132,500 (CT Location) Exciting Engineering Opportunities at AVANGRID! Our electric delivery infrastructure spans approximately 8,600 miles of transmission lines and includes over 900 substations serving 3.3 million customers across New England (CMP & UI) and New York (NYSEG and RG&E). Job Requirements: Minimum 5 years of engineering experience or 3 years in Protection & Control. Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or technology. Registered Professional Engineer or eligibility for certification. Experience with ASPEN OneLiner, SEL & GE Relay Programming, IEC61850 Standard, and protection coordination analysis. Familiar with FERC, NERC, NPCC, and state regulations. Strong knowledge of power system analysis, protection fundamentals, and compliance standards. Job Summary: As part of AVANGRID's engineering team, you will be responsible for the design and configuration of automation, data collection, protection, and control equipment subsystems. You will work on our extensive electric delivery infrastructure, ensuring safe, timely, and cost-effective completion of projects. Direct Reports: No Cross Company Role: Yes Major Roles and Responsibilities: Perform relay settings design and relay coordination analysis for electric transmission and substation protection systems in support of capital construction programs. Lead engineering contractors and consultants performing protection system settings for capital projects. Analyze disturbance event operations, ensuring protection schemes perform flawlessly. Develop and deliver clear, impactful fault analysis reports to management, highlighting corrective actions and valuable lessons learned. Lead NERC compliance programs applicable to substation assets and act as a subject matter expert during audits. Collaborate with project teams to resolve issues related to protection and control systems Represent AVANGRID on regional and national committees. Why AVANGRID?
