Security Officer - Birmingham

Shift pattern: Saturday & Sunday Days 06.00 - 18.00

Location: Birmingham B46 1DS

Salary: £12.41 per hour

Start date: ASAP

Must have own vehicle and be able to drive.

Key Purpose of the Job

The primary purpose of the Security Officer is to support the contract, protect client’s premises, assets, and personnel by maintaining a safe and secure environment in accordance with the Assignment instructions. This may involve monitoring and controlling access, conducting regular patrols, and responding promptly to security incidents or emergencies, whilst always maintaining a quality service.

Key Job Responsibilities

Customer Care

  • Greet and assist visitors, ensuring they feel welcome and are directed to the appropriate area.
  • Be receptive to the client’s concerns and complaints and take a personal interest in resolving any issues that you become involved in.
  • Always provide a high level of customer service, addressing inquiries and concerns professionally and courteously.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with staff, visitors, and contractors.
  • Work to the assignment instructions ensuring that all activity is accurately recorded on the correct documents, in line with both the client’s and the company’s quality procedures.

Work Performance and Quality Work

  • Comply with and report on all Health and Safety issues in accordance with company guidelines.
  • Conduct regular patrols of the premises, both internally and externally, to identify and mitigate security risks.
  • Monitor surveillance equipment and review footage as necessary.
  • Make the required check calls and booking on/off calls.
  • Control access to the premises, ensuring only authorised personnel are allowed entry.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to alarms and incidents, ensuring the situation is handled appropriately and reported accurately.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of daily activities, incidents, and irregularities.
  • Collaborate with emergency services when required.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with a diverse range of people.

Quality

  • Ensure that equipment issued to the contract is maintained and used in accordance with the manufacturer’s requirements at all times and where supplied, protective cases are used on all relevant equipment.
  • Be correctly dressed in full uniform, as required by the client and that any shortfall in issue is communicated to the appropriate line manager as outlined above.

Essential requirements for the job

  • SIA Licence or valid SIA training certificates
  • Excellent Written and Verbal Communications Skills
  • Flexibility, willingness to work various shift patterns in line with operational needs
  • Ability to stay calm and composed under pressure, especially during emergencies.

Desirable requirements for the job

  • Prior experience in a similar role is advantageous, though we are open to candidates with the right attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Basic understanding of security protocols and procedures.
  • Familiarity with the use of surveillance systems and other security equipment.
  • Previous experience in the security industry.
