We are thrilled to partner with one of our top clients, a global leader in Medical Communications known for their innovative and creative approach, to find a dynamic and enthusiastic Scientific Director to join their growing team on this high-priority search. The Scientific Director (ASD) is a key member of the Scientific Services team, combining strong technical writing skills with extensive medical communications experience. Responsibilities: • Content Development and Review: Designs, develops, and reviews various materials (e.g., scientific platforms, communication plans, workshops) across different project types and for multiple audiences, ensuring high-quality, strategic deliverables. • Client Understanding and Accuracy: Ensures projects accurately reflect clients’ product strategies and communication objectives, and verifies that all scientific claims are properly supported. • Client-Ready Deliverables: Delivers thoroughly researched, technically accurate, and well-written work that is client-ready, meets client objectives, and is thoroughly reviewed before submission. • Quality Assurance for Junior Writers: Takes responsibility for the quality of work produced by junior team members, ensuring scientific accuracy, is fully referenced, and aligns with the client’s needs while adhering to deadlines and budgets. • Mentorship and Feedback: Provides constructive feedback and ongoing coaching to junior writers, ensuring they have the support and guidance needed to improve and meet expectations. • Client Interaction and Leadership: Leads client meetings, including kick-offs, status updates, and ad-hoc calls with clients and healthcare professionals (HCPs), providing key updates and addressing client queries confidently. • Project and Team Management: Plans and manages the team’s workload, collaborating with senior team members to prioritize tasks, allocate resources, and ensure client deliverables align with strategic goals and high-quality standards. • Client Relationship Building: Builds and maintains strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor while confidently pushing back when necessary to ensure goals are met. • Scientific Expertise: Demonstrates a deep understanding of the therapeutic area and strategic needs of client accounts, with the ability to translate complex scientific data into clear, audience-appropriate content. • Financial Oversight and Resource Management: Manages project budgets, ensures timely and accurate timesheets, monitors billability, and proactively addresses any project risks or financial concerns to maintain client satisfaction and quality standards. Requirements: • Advanced doctoral-level degree (Ph.D., M.D., PharmD, etc.) with 5–7 years of experience in medical communications and expertise in multiple therapy areas. • Strong scientific, editorial, and communication skills, with the ability to critically review deliverables for scientific accuracy and integrity. • Proven experience in building relationships with clients and HCPs, coaching and mentoring junior writers, and maintaining a proactive, enthusiastic approach to new challenges. • In-depth knowledge of pharmaceutical industry standards and compliance, with the ability to work under pressure and manage multiple deadlines.
