So what is a Sales Specification Manager, at Marshalls your official job title is Project Specification Manager. This role blends sales, specification, and business development, giving you the opportunity to shape projects from the earliest stages.

You’ll be out in the field, identifying new business opportunities within commercial markets, building relationships across the construction supply chain, and influencing key decision-makers — from with landscape architects, local authorities, housebuilders, consultant engineers, and main contractor design teams.

Your technical knowledge and commercial insight will position you to secure product specifications and drive long-term growth.

In this role, you’ll seek out commercial project opportunities, build lasting relationships with key stakeholders and guide high-profile developments from vision to reality. You will actively seek to understand the unique needs of each project and providing expert advice and tailored solutions to help our clients achieve their vision.

What are the mission-critical skills?

  • Proven track record in specification sales: Understand the intricacies of product specification within the construction sector.
  • Technically minded: A solid grasp of technical specifications and product applications.
  • Commercially astute: A strong understanding of the construction industry and a keen commercial awareness. The ability to identify and win project opportunities.
  • Sales and performance-oriented: You're driven by targets and achieving outstanding results. You will be experienced and effective in business development, prospecting, securing customer visits and CRM project engagement.
  • Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills: Forging strong, long-term relationships with clients is paramount.
  • Flexible and adaptable: This is a field-based role requiring a flexible approach to extensive travel and your working environment.
  • UK driving license and on-patch living: You'll need a full UK driving license and must live within your designated sales patch.
