Job Purpose

The Sustainable Construction Materials and Structural Systems Research Group at the University of Sharjah invites applications to fill full-time Research Assistant Position. The focus of the position is to assist the research group members in conducting research in the area of Sustainable Construction Materials and Structural Systems. The candidate selected for this position will be responsible for conducting research in the following specific areas:

  • Sustainable Construction Materials
  • Structural Systems and Applications,

The applicant will have opportunity to work on exciting research projects with renowned researchers in the field.


Main accountabilities & expectations

  • Conduct research in the area of civil engineering materials and structural systems
  • Conduct laboratory experiments
  • Analyze structural members and composite materials using nonlinear finite element analysis software packages.
  • Write research proposals and reports, and present research findings.
  • Collaborate across multiple projects and research faculty within various research themes
  • Facilitate, promote and initiate collaboration with industry
  • Supervise or coordinate the work of graduate research assistants, students, technicians, and others in executing research projects and activities.



Required Skills
  • Conducting research, including laboratory work, data collection, data analysis, and technical report writing.

  • Knowledge and experience across multiple relevant research areas.

  • Proficiency in written and spoken English.


Desirable Requirements

  • Master degree in civil engineering with emphasis on materials and structural systems.
  • Graduate from a reputable university.
  • Proven record in publishing research outcomes in journals, conferences, and technical reports
