Job Summary
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Remote Bookkeeping Assistant to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will support financial record-keeping, ensure accurate account management, and assist with various bookkeeping tasks using leading accounting software. This position offers the flexibility of remote work while providing an engaging environment where your expertise in accounting principles and software will directly contribute to the financial health of our organization. Your proactive approach and technical skills will help maintain precise financial records, support compliance, and facilitate smooth financial operations.

Duties

  • Manage day-to-day bookkeeping activities including data entry, journal entries, and account reconciliations using software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, and Quicken
  • Perform bank reconciliations and general ledger accounting to ensure accuracy across all financial accounts
  • Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable processes to ensure timely payments and collections
  • Support payroll processing and related tax filings in compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
  • Prepare financial reports, balance sheets, and other documentation to facilitate financial analysis and decision-making
  • Conduct account analysis, general ledger reconciliation, and double-entry bookkeeping to uphold accounting integrity
  • Maintain detailed records of transactions, prepare audit documentation, and ensure adherence to governmental and non-profit accounting standards

Requirements

  • Proven experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or similar platforms
  • Strong understanding of corporate accounting principles, GAAP standards, and governmental accounting practices
  • Knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping, journal entries, bank reconciliation, and account reconciliation processes
  • Familiarity with financial concepts including debits & credits, balance sheet reconciliation, and general ledger management
  • Experience with accounts payable/receivable management and payroll processing is preferred
  • Ability to perform 10 key typing accurately for data entry tasks
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in maintaining accurate financial records
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively within a remote team environment
