This a Full Remote job, the offer is available from: Pennsylvania (USA) Job Description: As part of the Global Professional Services (GPS) organization at Vertex, Inc., the Principal Consultant plays a critical role in delivering successful implementations of Vertex tax technology solutions. This includes integrating Vertex products with leading enterprise applications such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics 365, and other strategic partner platforms. The Principal Consultant combines deep technical expertise, strong business acumen, and proven consulting experience to drive high-quality client outcomes, strengthen customer relationships, and contribute to the overall growth of the GPS organization. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Lead and manage multiple complex projects concurrently, ensuring alignment with client objectives and Vertex standards. • Consistently deliver projects on time, within budget, and without non-product-related escalations. • Take ownership of client escalations on assigned engagements, driving rapid, effective resolutions that maintain client confidence. • Build and strengthen partner relationships to promote collaboration and mutual success across the project lifecycle. • Serve as a recognized subject matter expert within GPS and across functions such as Sales and Product Management, contributing deep technical and business insight. • Proactively identify and pursue opportunities to expand client value through additional software, services, or strategic enhancements. • Cultivate trusted customer references by delivering exceptional service and fostering long-term client advocacy. • Mentor team members at all levels, providing coaching, oversight, and knowledge-sharing across the practice. AI-Driven Service Enhancement: • Leverage Artificial Intelligence (AI) to elevate GPS service delivery, client outcomes, and decision-making. • Continuously explore and apply AI-driven tools, platforms, and methodologies to enhance operational efficiency, data analysis, and strategic insights. • Remain current on emerging AI trends and identify opportunities to incorporate AI into client engagements and internal processes, ensuring alignment with Vertex’s enterprise AI strategy. • Collaborate cross-functionally to pilot and scale AI solutions that support GPS and broader organizational goals. Education and Training: • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. • Minimum of 7 years of hands-on experience in tax technology implementation. Specialized Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Expert knowledge of: • Vertex products and integrations. • Host system functionality (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics 365). • Tax functionality across key business processes. • Applicable tax rules and regulatory requirements. • Common business processes and automation best practices. • Tax data management principles. Additional requirements: • Experience using Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Supply Chain Management (D365). • Experience implementing Microsoft D365 with Vertex. • Hands-on experience with e-Invoicing solutions. • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across all organizational levels. • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and uphold Vertex’s values and ethical standards.
