OVERVIEW: The Family Law Paralegal plays a critical role in ensuring cases move forward efficiently and clients receive high-quality support. This position requires strong family law experience, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to balance multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment. This position manages day-to-day case progression under attorney supervision, prepares pleadings and supporting documentation, handles discovery and trial preparation, and ensures deadlines are tracked and met. The Paralegal helps drive productivity and supports attorney billable capacity by owning key procedural and drafting tasks within ethical and legal boundaries. This role requires strong family law experience, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to balance multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Preferences: • Experience using MyCase and Slack is highly preferred. • Our firm relies on Slack for all internal communications and uses MyCase for case management, task assignment, and tracking deadlines. Candidates who are comfortable working in structured, tech-enabled workflows will thrive in this role. Responsibilities: • Assist attorneys with case management, including drafting legal documents, pleadings, and correspondence specific to family law cases. • Manage and organize legal files using document management systems like Slack and MyCase • Review and analyze legal documents for accuracy and completeness; perform proofreading and transcription as needed. • Support litigation processes through document review, discovery management, and preparation of trial exhibits. • Maintain case calendars and deadlines to ensure timely filings and compliance with court procedures. • Conduct client interviews and gather relevant information for case development. • Utilize legal research tools such as Westlaw and LexisNexis to support case strategies. • Provide administrative support including data entry, filing, scheduling appointments, and managing correspondence with clients and courts. • Demonstrate excellent phone etiquette and organizational skills to facilitate smooth office operations. Minimum Requirements: • 2+ years of Paralegal experience with a strong background in family law • Working knowledge of California Family Law forms and procedures • Comfortable managing multiple cases simultaneously with shifting priorities • Proficiency in legal research tools including Westlaw, LexisNexis, CEB, Attorney's Briefcase. • Experience with legal case management systems and document review processes. • Strong writing skills for drafting legal documents and correspondence. • Excellent proofreading and attention to detail. • Knowledge of legal documents, legal drafting standards, and document management procedures. • Organizational skills capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. • Clerical experience including filing, data entry, administrative tasks, and maintaining organized files. • Effective communication skills with professional phone etiquette. • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team within a busy law office setting.
