As a **Network Attached Storage (NAS) Implementation Support Planner** , you will contribute to the success of Caterpillar's remote and global NAS environment. In this role, you will be part of a team responsible for storage migrations, implementation projects and support. This includes planning, creating design solutions, deploying, and monitoring to ensure the NAS infrastructure operates at maximum reliability, scalability, and efficiency.

**What You Will Do:**

+ Design, document, deploy, and manage remote office NAS solutions through all phases of lifecycle management for Dell, NetApp and Pure storage equipment deployed at enterprise hosting locations and local facilities.

+ Support infrastructure and deployment projects across multiple regions and locations.

+ Partner with hardware, software, and vendor teams on the development of data center solutions.

+ Provide project participation, advice, and counsel to IT personnel, management, and project teams on various aspects of remote office and global NAS hardware and software.

+ Plan and implement large scale data migrations for global site locations.

+ Establish and implement global security and operational best practices and adhere to IT Controls.

+ Adhere to IT Service Management processes, instruction, and procedural documentation.

+ Work with application support teams/customers/operations/application teams to develop plans to minimize the technical and/or business impact of NAS environment changes.

+ Monitor, troubleshoot and resolve complex problems within the NAS environments.

**Hardware Infrastructure** : Knowledge of computer architecture and systems programming; ability to design, build and integrate IT hardware into multi-platforms for the organization.

Level Expert:

+ Leads in the design of IT hardware to meet organizational needs.

+ Develops policies and processes associated with the implementation of IT hardware.

+ Leads in the integration of IT hardware for other platforms within the organization.

+ Elaborates on key issues and solutions during the hardware design, implementation and integration process.

+ Improves the functionality of an organization's IT hardware.

+ Monitors new IT hardware technologies provided by vendors.

**Requirements Analysis** : Knowledge of tools, methods, and techniques of requirement analysis; ability to elicit, analyze and record required business functionality and non-functionality requirements to ensure the success of a system or software development project.

Level Extensive Experience:

+ Plays an active or leading role in recording and storing requirement documents in various forms.

+ Ensures the successful completion of all major activities, tasks and deliverables pertaining to the requirement analysis stage.

+ Supervises the advanced use of requirements analysis tools and services, including prototyping and use cases.

+ Produces detailed functional and information requirements models and documentation.

+ Trains others on requirements walkthroughs and quality reviews.

+ Utilizes automated diagramming tools to ensure traceability of requirements.

**Technical Troubleshooting:** Knowledge of technical troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, recognize, and resolve technical issues on hardware, software, application or operation.

Level Extensive Experience:

+ Emphasizes the business impact of failure and the criticality and timing of needed resolution so that problems can be avoided in the future.

+ Creates trouble reports for all issues found and reviews solutions for completeness and correctness.

+ Directs the resolution of communications problems in multi-vendor environments.

+ Resolves a variety of hardware, software, and communications malfunctions.

+ Coaches others on advanced diagnostic techniques and tools for unusual or performance-related problems.

+ Facilitates the distribution of releases reports and correction packages to departments or clients.

**Top Candidates Will Also Have:**

+ Bachelor's degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, or related field.

+ 10+ years deploying and supporting Network area storage infrastructure and software.

+ Experience with Dell, Netapp and Pure NAS hardware/software and any other storage vendor that could be relevant.

+ Experience with servers, desktops, networking and security systems as it relates to storage connectivity and support.

+ Strong communication, teamwork, analytical, interpersonal, and customer service skills.

+ Ability to communicate service interruptions is critical; management and impacted customer base must be aware of the situation and anticipated recovery time.

+ Experience working on multiple projects simultaneously and delivering against deadlines in a complex global environment.

**Summary Pay Range:**

$128,470.00 - $208,770.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
