Monitoring Consultant Hybrid (Onsite 1 day/wk) Must reside within 2 hours of Harrisburg area Description: Diversified Systems is searching for a Monitoring Consultant who will be a subject matter expert on monitoring tools and processes used and is responsible for collaborating with technical specialists, agency teams, and vendors to implement actionable monitoring and reporting. The position's responsibilities also include coordinating efforts to transform person-centric processes into structured, repeatable, and highly documented automated workflows. Additionally, this position is responsible for the management and continuous improvement of key enterprise monitoring processes, including changes, incident reporting, and problem resolution. The incumbent will also be responsible for evaluating, preparing, and implementing technical solutions for on-prem and cloud-based applications and technology resources. The position will develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and ensure consistent communication strategies to enhance operational efficiency and service delivery. Responsibilities: • Drive process and tooling improvements by identifying gaps and implementing automation-first practices to reduce manual effort and improve service quality. • Maintain endpoint monitoring connectivity by ensuring reliable telemetry ingestion through agents, SNMP, WMI, and APIs and managing certificates and credentials across hybrid networks. • Own documentation and knowledge management by creating and maintaining runbooks, standard operating procedures, service maps, and workflows in an organized, version-controlled repository with regular reviews. • Document incidents and problems with observability context by capturing monitoring data in ServiceNow tickets, producing post-incident reviews, and maintaining a known error database. • Collaborate on change, incident, and problem management by working with enterprise change and incident management teams to ensure standardized processes, risk assessments, and communication plans are followed. • Monitor resolution performance and service restoration by tracking service level agreements, mean time to resolution, and root cause analysis quality and ensuring corrective actions are implemented and validated. • Implement standardized communication and stakeholder updates by establishing structured workflows for changes, incidents, and problems and managing distribution lists and self-service subscription options. • Ensure compliance with Commonwealth information technology policies by aligning services with public and enterprise policy objectives and recommending updates to improve reliability, security, and cost efficiency. • Utilize ServiceNow for change management by creating and tracking requests for change, linking risk assessments, and validating post-change monitoring health. • Provide service level agreement reporting and operational metrics by submitting accurate data on availability, incidents, and enhancements for monthly and quarterly reports. • Design and test disaster recovery plans by defining recovery time and recovery point objectives for network and monitoring infrastructure and executing periodic disaster recovery exercises. • Maintain technical currency by staying current with emerging monitoring technologies and best practices and pursuing relevant training and certifications. • Fulfill continuity of government obligations by performing assigned duties during activation events, including relocation to alternate sites during catastrophic incidents. • Adhere to information technology service management processes by operating within ITIL-aligned frameworks and contributing to process maturity and compliance audits. Requirements: • 5 years of experience in information technology infrastructure monitoring, automation, and observability within hybrid environments. • Bachelor's Degree in IT/CompSci or related field. • Strong proficiency in PowerShell and at least one additional scripting language including Python, SQL, or Bash. • Hands-on experience with Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Ansible, SQL, and KQL. • Experience implementing automation using Azure Automation and CI/CD pipelines. • Expertise with monitoring platforms such as SCOM, SquaredUp, or equivalent solutions including Dynatrace, Datadog, or Splunk. • Knowledge of application programming interface integration and secure authentication methods. • Experience using ServiceNow or similar information technology service management platforms. • Microsoft Certified Azure Administrator Associate or Azure Solutions Architect Expert certification is highly desired. • ITIL 4 Foundation certification or higher is highly desired.
