About the position Inspire health. Serve with compassion. Be the difference. Job Summary This hybrid job performs as a Nursing Assistant, Unit Secretary and Monitor Tech. Assists the Registered Nurse in providing patient care based on the individualized plan of care for a patient. As delegated, performs basic nursing activities and unit secretary duties. Conducts data collection, monitors and documents patient status. Ensures confidentiality of all patient information. Utilizes safe patient handling at all times. Informs RN of activities performed. Observations of patients and changes in patient status. Provides a neat and clean patient environment. As a Monitor Tech, observes cardiac monitors to identify abnormal heart rhythms under the supervision of a registered nurse. Responsibilities • Observes cardiac monitors and reports any changes in cardiac rhythm per policy. • Receives report from the previous shift and documents strips per policy. • Responsible for the management and distribution of transmitter boxes. • Ensures transmitter boxes are returned to the surveillance center in a timely manner after discontinuation of telemetry monitoring. • Reports problems regarding poor transmission, etc. to the appropriate unit and personnel. • Reports telemetry system failures to designated personnel and departments. • Completes telemetry summary report per policy guidelines. • Triages incoming phone calls, provides appropriate information in a calm and concise manner and logs phone calls. • Maintains adequate supplies and keeps the monitoring areas and equipment clean and organized. • Participates in training and the continuous development of new staff. • Attends educational programs, in-services and meetings as required. • Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements • Education - High school diploma or equivalent preferred. • Experience - No previous experience required. • After hire, requires attendance of formal arrhythmia training class and successful completion of the Prisma Health Arrhythmia exam with a minimum passing score within 2 attempts. • Successful completion of the arrhythmia exam must be completed within 30 days of hire. • Arrhythmia competencies must be maintained on an annual basis for the monitor tech role.
