The Opportunity:
Whittier Street Health Center is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant to join our primary care team. In this role, you’ll support the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care by providing both clinical and administrative assistance. You’ll work closely with providers and nurses to ensure smooth clinical operations, positive patient experiences, and coordinated care. This is an opportunity to make a direct impact on community health while growing your clinical skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform and document clinical procedures (vital signs, EKGs, urine dipstick, etc.)
  • Administer vaccines under nursing supervision
  • Prepare patients for exams and assist during procedures
  • Set up and restock exam rooms; maintain equipment and instruments
  • Act as liaison between patients and providers, ensuring clear communication
  • Support referrals and follow-up coordination
  • Document patient interactions and care accurately in the electronic health record (Epic)
  • Uphold strict standards of confidentiality and patient privacy
  • Provide interpretation services if bilingual (Spanish/English strongly preferred)
  • Evening and weekend availability required

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education preferred
  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program
  • Active Medical Assistant Certificate
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • 2–3 years of experience in a primary care or ambulatory care setting (hospital experience a plus)
  • Proficiency with Epic electronic health record preferred
  • Strong knowledge of medical practices, safety standards, and procedures
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and teamwork skills
  • Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred
