What to Expect We are looking to hire entry and early-career Test Engineers for our Hardware Testing team. As an HV Battery Test Engineer, you will work with a passionate and multi-disciplinary group of Engineers while learning how to build and use hardware, firmware, and software solutions to validate Tesla battery products to rigorous internal and automotive-industry standards. This role influences the design of the product through reliability risk identification and testing starting at early concept phases, going through product development and launch, and continuing post launch. A significant amount of the work will be hands-on, in the lab pushing prototypes to their limits and investigating those limitations. We are interested in diverse candidates with relevant experience, but we will prioritize curious and driven engineers with strong problem solving, communication, and collaboration skills. What You’ll Do - Perform component and pack-level validation and reliability testing, simulating realistic and accelerated dynamic and environmental conditions on structural, vibration, hydraulic, thermal, and electrical sub-systems - Design, build, instrument, and automate equipment for battery system and component testing - Investigate test and field failures to drive product development and test improvement - Work with Design Engineers, Reliability Scientists, Material Scientists, Quality, and Service to identify failure modes and generate design validation and reliability test plans - Identify and execute experiments targeting new technologies and critical risks to benefit vehicle products - Analyze and document test results, and present those results to cross-functional teams and leadership - Collaborate with Test Technicians to achieve test objectives What You’ll Bring - Basic understanding of statics, mechanics of materials, fluids, heat transfer, measurement and instrumentation, and linear circuits  - Experience with an object-oriented coding language and scripting (Python, MATLAB, etc. - Experience with 3D modelling and drafting drawings of mechanical structures and machinery - Familiarity with electrical test equipment such as multimeters, DAQs, oscilloscopes, and power supplies.
