Pay Rate: £23.16 per hour PAYE
Hours per week: 35 Monday – Friday, normal working hours
Role Length: This opening assignment is for 6-7 months

What’s involved with this role:
You will be the first point of contact for people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. You will give advice, assess housing needs, and help people find or keep a home. You will work with partners and follow housing law to make sure customers get the right support.

Qualifications:
  • Good level of education (GCSEs or equivalent, including English and Maths)

Skills & Experience required:
  • Good knowledge of homelessness law (Housing Act 1996 and Homelessness Reduction Act 2017)
  • Experience working in housing, homelessness, or a similar service
  • Good IT skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, databases)
  • Experience giving advice in a busy customer service setting

Key Responsibilities:
  • Carry out detailed housing interviews to assess needs and prevent homelessness.
  • Give clear housing advice, explain legal rights, and help customers make informed decisions.
  • Negotiate with landlords, family members, and other agencies to help customers stay in their homes or secure new accommodation.
  • Make decisions under homelessness legislation and write clear, accurate decision letters within set deadlines.
  • Work closely with internal teams and external partners, keep accurate case records, and ensure all actions meet legal and council standards.
