The Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs (EOEEA) serves Commonwealth residents interested in outdoor recreational activities, clean energy solutions and those who work with animals and livestock. Equally, EOEEA works with energy consumers, power companies, clean energy providers and farmers to delicately balance the interaction with environmental protection laws and regulations while being a cornerstone for our economic prosperity. Secretariat Overview: The Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs Secretariat (EOEEA) provides oversight of the Commonwealth’s energy and environmental agencies, namely, the Division of Energy Resources (DOER), Department of Public Utilities (DPU), Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR), Department of Fish and Game (DFG), and Department of Agricultural Resources (DAR). EOEEA also has divisions within the Secretariat, including the Office of Law Enforcement (OLE or Massachusetts Environmental Police), Massachusetts Environmental Policy Act (MEPA) office, Coastal Zone Management (CZM) office, and Division of Conservation Services (DCS). All agencies and divisions promote the environmental or energy related goals and initiatives of the Administration and the Secretary of EOEEA. The Executive Office of Energy and Environment Affairs is accepting resumes and applications for the position of Law Enforcement Dispatcher II – Chelsea General Statement of duties: Operate multi-band radios, operate Criminal Justice Information System National Crime Information Center computer, Provide assistance to field law enforcement units, Coordinate joint operations with local, state, and federal law enforcement and public safety agencies. Provide information to the general public and other public and private entities. DETAILED STATEMENT OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Performs all duties and responsibilities of Environmental Police Law Enforcement Dispatcher I 2. Operates sophisticated multi-band radio to address emergency and non emergency requests 3. Coordinates department access and use of worldwide police telecommunications network. 4. Assures compliance with Federal Communications Commission rules to disseminate information over radio network 5. Broadcasts orders to coordinated dispatching of law enforcement and other emergency services 6. Coordinates dispatch and response of federal agencies to federal enforcement activities 7. Coordinates department response to natural disasters such as floods, hurricanes, blizzards etc 8. Coordinates search and rescue operations on the lands of the Commonwealth. Coordinates emergency medical Response to remote areas of the state during severe weather 9. Receive Law Enforcement related communications from the public provide assistance as needed 10. Provide information via communications system to coordinate activities of local, state and federal law enforcement Personnel engaged in major emergency activities such as pursuits, warrants, surveillance and immobilization 11. Provide information via communications system to coordinate the activities of local state and federal officers during Natural disasters, medical emergencies, fires and domestic abuse 12. Utilize numerous local, municipal, county state, federal and international enforcement agencies and emergency Services to address or investigate complaints or requests for service 13. Responds to requests from worldwide enforcement agencies relative to wanted or missing persons, criminal histories, Stolen property, sensitive intelligence, terrorist activity, drug interdiction, or smuggling 14. Respond to telephone requests for information from the public , other public service agencies and the media to Provide general departmental information 15. Maintain records of radio transmissions, complaints received via telephone, fax, or marine radio 16. Ability to operated department CAD Computer Aided Dispatch system to enter and retrieve data to assist field units 17. Ability to build good relationships and strategic partnerships 18. Ability to adapt quickly to shifting priorities 19. Ability to follow chain of command 20. Ability to propose and implement specific solutions to problems that compliment the department’s organizational structure 21. Ability to balance competing priorities and demands on the department 22. Ability to simultaneously manage multiple and complex assignments or tasks 23. Performs other related law enforcement dispatcher duties as required or assigned Qualifications First consideration will be given to those applicants that apply within the first 14 days. Minimum Entrance Requirements: Applicant must have at least (A) one year of full time or equivalent part-time, experience in the operation of communications systems, or (B) the substitutions below. Substitutions: A diploma as evidence of graduation from a recognized high school or vocational/technical high school or a Massachusetts high school equivalency certificate. Special requirements: After appointment employee must obtain basic APCO certification, CPR and first responder certification. Ability to be appointed as Deputy Environmental Police Officer. A valid motor vehicle operators license.
