Position Summary

The Inventory & Shipping Director is responsible for overseeing all aspects of inventory management, warehousing, and shipping operations at Syntec Optics. This role ensures accurate inventory control, optimized safety stock levels, efficient material flow, and on-time delivery of precision optical components. The Director will lead cross-functional coordination between production, procurement, quality, and logistics while driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all inventory, warehousing, and shipping functions across the facility

• Develop and maintain inventory control strategies to support CNC machining, glass molding, polymer molding, metrology, and assembly operations

• Establish and optimize safety stock levels to balance service levels and carrying costs

• Oversee shipping operations including domestic and international logistics, packaging, and compliance requirements

• Implement cycle counting, physical inventory processes, and ERP system accuracy improvements

• Collaborate with production and planning teams to ensure material availability aligns with production schedules

• Drive vendor and supplier coordination to ensure timely delivery of raw materials and components

• Develop KPIs (inventory turns, on-time shipment, accuracy, etc.) and report performance to leadership

• Lead warehouse layout optimization and material flow improvements to support operational efficiency

• Ensure compliance with safety standards and promote a strong safety culture within warehouse and shipping operations

• Identify and implement process improvements, automation, and cost-saving initiatives

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)

• 7+ years of experience in inventory, logistics, or supply chain leadership in a manufacturing environment

• Experience in precision manufacturing (optics, CNC, aerospace, or similar) strongly preferred

• Strong knowledge of ERP/MRP systems and inventory control methodologies

• Proven leadership experience managing teams in warehouse and logistics environments

• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills

• Experience with international shipping, compliance, and documentation

• Strategic thinking and execution

• Leadership and team development

• Process improvement (Lean / Six Sigma preferred)

• Cross-functional collaboration

• Data-driven decision making
