Comment end Join us and help change mental health care for children for the better! Position Summary Blackbird Health is looking to hire an Insurance Operations Specialist to join our growing team. This role will expertly manage the complete lifecycle of insurance operations, including verifying patient benefits, securing necessary pre-authorizations, and ensuring strict adherence to all payer guidelines. The specialist serves as the primary liaison for insurance inquiries and is crucial in maintaining a positive patient experience through accurate and timely benefit management. What makes you, you: • Expertise in verifying insurance eligibility, coverage, and benefits for diverse patient populations. • Successfully navigated complex insurance pre-authorization and referral processes to ensure patient access to care. • Deep understanding of CPT and ICD-10 coding relevant to medical billing and claims submission. • Demonstrated ability to resolve complex claims denials and manage accounts receivable effectively. • Thorough comprehension of various insurance plans, including HMO, PPO, EPO, and government programs (Medicare, Medicaid). How you’ll make an impact: • Verify insurance coverage, eligibility, and benefits for new and existing patients. • Call insurance companies to confirm coverage and resolve issues related to pre-authorizations, referrals, and claims. • Serve as a point of contact for patient questions about insurance coverage, copays, and billing. • Manage and track pre-authorizations for clinical services to ensure timely approval and updates. • Support patients and other Blackbird departments to help ensure continuity of care. • Provide exceptional customer service by actively listening to and addressing patient concerns. The basics you’ll need: • 2-4 years of health care billing experience working with insurance companies. • 2-4 years of experience with EHR/PM Systems such as Athena. • 1-3 years of experience in a customer service setting. • Experience with insurance eligibility verification and benefits determination. • Familiarity with securing prior authorizations and referrals for services. • Knowledge of medical billing and insurance terminology. • Ability to maintain confidentiality according to HIPAA regulations. • Reliable high-speed internet access.
