Position Overview:

Hope Farms is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Greenhouse / Retail Technician to cultivation and customer service operations. This position requires , a solid horticultural foundation, attention to detail, cash handling and the ability to work efficiently outdoors in all seasons. You may assist in supporting nursery and greenhouse crew needs such as customer service, product retrieval, scheduling and content creation.

Key Responsibilities:Nursery Responsibilities:

  • Pot, prune, weed, water, and fertilize perennials, annuals and flowers.
  • Tag and inventory plant material; ensure accurate plant labeling and tracking.
  • Load/unload plant deliveries and customer orders using proper lifting techniques or equipment.
  • Monitor for pests/disease and report any crop health issues promptly.
  • Operate greenhouse equipment including fans, pumps, irrigation tools and vehicles.

Greenhouse Responsibilities:

  • Assist with planting and maintaining annuals, perennials and propagated plant material.
  • Perform watering, fertilizing, pest management, and staging of plants.
  • Follow layout / design plans and take direction from Sales Manager.
  • Maintain tools and job site cleanliness.
  • Assist with greenhouse and hoop house setup, including shade cloths, poly, and irrigation.

Retail Responsibilities:

  • Perform checkout and cash handling in retail setting(s).
  • Provide prompt customer service in a dynamic, fast paced environment.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area across greenhouse, retail and production areas.
  • Participate in team meetings, safety briefings, and seasonal planning efforts.

Qualifications:

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work on your feet for 8+ hours daily.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in variable weather (heat, rain, cold)

Horticultural Skills:

  • Basic knowledge of plant material, planting techniques, and soil amendments.
  • Experience operating landscape and nursery equipment (skid steer, hand tools, irrigation systems) preferred.
  • Ability to read and follow basic site plans and planting diagrams a plus.

Customer Service Skills:

  • Troubleshooting customer requests and meeting needs in a timely fashion
  • Perform payment processing and cash handling.
  • Communicate effectively via phone, email, social media

Soft Skills & Work Ethic:

  • Strong attention to detail, especially in plant identification and care.
  • Dependable, punctual, and committed to high-quality work.
  • Works well independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and willingness to ask questions when needed.

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
