About the Role We are seeking an experienced and passionate Elementary Spanish Teacher to teach Spanish to our elementary school students. The ideal candidate will be fluent in English and Spanish, have a strong background in teaching Spanish as a second language, and be committed to creating an inclusive and engaging learning environment. As an Elementary Spanish Teacher at Blackstone Valley Prep Mayoral Academy, you will be responsible for designing and delivering high-quality lessons that promote language acquisition, cultural awareness, and academic excellence. You will work collaboratively with our team of educators to develop and implement curriculum, assess student progress, and provide feedback and support to students. Key Responsibilities: Create an environment of respect and rapport with students, colleagues, and families Establish a culture of learning that reflects the educational importance of the work undertaken by both students and teachers Establish and monitor routines and procedures for the smooth operation of the classroom and the efficient use of time Manage student behavior to allow for high levels of engagement with the content Model a precise and expressive use of language to effectively communicate with students, including expectations for learning, directions for activities, and explanations of content Use questions, prompts, and discussion techniques to cognitively challenge students, advance high-level thinking and discourse, and promote metacognition Intellectually engage all students in learning through well-designed learning tasks and activities that require complex thinking, and include appropriate scaffolding Utilize formative and summative assessments to drive instructional planning, monitor student learning, provide feedback to students, and facilitate students' self-monitoring of learning Essential Qualifications: To be successful in this role, you will need to have: Fluency in English and Spanish (written and spoken) A bachelor's degree in Spanish, Education, or a related field Successful applicants must hold an appropriate Rhode Island teacher certification or be eligible for certification by their date of hire A minimum of two years teaching experience in a diverse public school setting preferred, but not required Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and families Strong organizational and time management skills Commitment to creating an inclusive and engaging learning environment Preferred Qualifications: While not required, the following qualifications are preferred: Master's degree in Spanish, Education, or a related field Experience teaching Spanish as a second language Knowledge of curriculum design and implementation Experience with assessment and evaluation methods Familiarity with technology integration in the classroom Skills and Competencies: To be successful in this role, you will need to have: Strong knowledge of Spanish language and culture Excellent teaching and communication skills Ability to design and deliver engaging lessons Strong organizational and time management skills Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and families Commitment to creating an inclusive and engaging learning environment Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and priorities Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits: At Blackstone Valley Prep Mayoral Academy, we are committed to supporting the professional growth and development of our educators.
