The budgeted salary range for this position is $86,634.00 to $128,869.

Location

This position will work out of our offices at 1245 Champa Street. The City and County of Denver supports a hybrid workplace model. In this position you will work in person at least 3 days per week with 2 days remote (depending on project and work requirements). Frequent visits to project sites around the City are required. Employees must work within the state of Colorado on their off-site days.

Denver Arts & Venues (DAV) is the City and County of Denver agency responsible for overseeing Denver Public Art. DAV is also responsible for operating some of the region's most renowned facilities, including Red Rocks Amphitheatre, Denver Performing Arts Complex, Colorado Convention Center, Denver Coliseum, McNichols Civic Center Building and Theatre at Loretto Heights.

The Capital Project Manager supports Denver Arts & Venues in ensuring the long-term operational readiness, sustainability, and improvement of its portfolio of world-renowned, city-owned facilities. This role plays a key part in planning for anticipated and unforeseen capital repairs, maintenance, replacements, renovations, and future asset acquisitions.

What You'll Do
  • Manage, coordinate, and direct complex, multi-disciplinary capital improvement, development, and redevelopment projects across the agency's facility portfolio.
  • Develop and oversee project plans, scopes of work, timelines, budgets, funding limitations, and resource allocations in collaboration with the Capital and Sustainability team.
  • Monitor project schedules, cost estimates, and performance to ensure conformance with approved plans, contract specifications, and quality standards.
  • Coordinate and matrix-manage consultants, contractors, and project team members to ensure project milestones and deliverables are met.
  • Oversee change management processes and quality assurance measures to support successful project outcomes.
  • Partner with the Capital Program Manager to effectively utilize project management software and planning tools to support capital forecasting and decision-making.
  • Develop and execute stakeholder communication plans, providing regular updates on project status, risks, mitigation strategies, and key milestones.


About You
  • Experience managing capital improvement or commercial development projects involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of project budgeting, scheduling, contract administration, and risk management.
  • Analyze complex project data and apply sound judgment to planning and resource allocation decisions.
  • Proven ability to influence, negotiate, and collaborate across diverse teams and leadership levels.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and a strong results-oriented mindset.
  • Strategic thinking and the ability to anticipate long-term operational and infrastructure needs.
  • A proactive and strategic project management professional who thrives in complex, highly visible environments.
  • An understanding of the importance of stewarding public assets responsibly and balancing operational needs with long-term capital planning.
  • A collaborative leadership style and are comfortable coordinating consultants, contractors, technical experts, and internal stakeholders
  • Comfortable navigating evolving priorities and ensuring projects remain aligned with agency goals, sustainability efforts, and fiscal responsibility.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Education requirement: Bachelor's Degree in Project Management, Engineering, Architecture, Landscape Architecture or a related field.
  • Experience Requirement: Two (2) years of professional project management experience in the related occupational group including coordinating, administering, and monitoring projects.
  • Education/Experience Equivalency: One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post-high school education.


Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements.
