The Buyer position, reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, will assist in managing multiple purchasing and inventory control functions. Strong candidates will be self-starters with excellent communication skills (both internal and external) and the ability to handle a consistent influx of tasks. Purchasing commodities, supplies, equipment, and services used and sold to maintain the appropriate levels of inventory for BearCom's needs will be required.

Responsibilities:

  • Effectively manage supplier performance to meet cost and quality objectives as well as source and carry out new vendor qualification activities.
  • Identify and executes company-wide cost savings opportunities which involves sourcing suppliers, managing competitive bids, and negotiating with suppliers.
  • Expedites purchase orders as required based on business need.
  • Make alternate arrangements in the event of shortages or delayed deliveries to minimize impact on the organization.
  • Maintain products and vendor master files to specified standards.
  • Continuously evaluate the utilization of company resources to identify and implement improvements.
  • Source and carry out new vendor qualification activities.
  • Provide product and order information to all internal departments as requested.
  • Placing purchase orders with approved suppliers for stock materials and monitoring until received/invoiced.
  • Complete any other reasonable duties or special projects that may be required by Management from time to time.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of experience in purchasing or buying field.
  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain or business-related education.
  • Experience with related products and components buying and planning is preferred.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills - written and verbal, and ability to work with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work well with management, sales, support, and warehouse staff.
  • Works efficiently and effectively with limited supervision in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must have attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to work well under pressure and handle stressful situations.
  • Ability to think outside the box.
  • Self-driven and productive must be able to multi-task.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite tools and other software as required.
  • Oracle JD Edwards (JDE) experience preferred but not required.
  • Drug screenings and background checks are part of the hiring process, which may include a Motor Vehicle Record check.
