What to Expect We are seeking a highly motivated Material Planning Manager to oversee NPI sourcing and planning during early engineering builds for vehicle product projects. This cross-functional role involves close coordination with internal and external Tesla groups. You will engage in early NPI design phases, own planning and sourcing for components during engineering builds, and build strong relationships with cross-functional engineering partners and suppliers to meet cost, quality, and delivery targets for Tesla and our customers. This is a 6 month contract position. What You’ll Do - Deliver clear-to-build status, material coverage, run-out reports, and other analyses to support engineering builds - Build and maintain operational partnerships with assigned suppliers, acting as the primary interface for delivery status, issues, and resolutions - Escalate issues to commercial or technical partners (e.g., procurement, accounts payable, quality, engineering) when needed - Drive commercial cost negotiations with suppliers to secure the best pricing for Tesla, leveraging cost models and market condition analyses - Monitor market conditions and technology roadmaps to proactively address supply challenges and identify future business opportunities - Document component costs and collaborate with finance to track BOM costs across program phases What You’ll Bring - Experience in sourcing, manufacturing, finance, or supply chain management - Degree in Supply Chain, Finance, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent experience. CPIM or APIC training is a plus - High proficiency in MS Excel (advanced level) - Strong knowledge of MRP/ERP with a solid understanding of discrete manufacturing, bills of material, product lifecycle management, procure-to-pay processes, and supply chain operations - Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to evaluate data and support operational decision-making or present recommendations to leadership - Proven skills in supplier operational and relationship management - Passionate, high-energy approach with the diplomacy and cooperative style to influence others inside and outside Tesla, plus strong written, verbal, and presentation skills
