This a Full Remote job, the offer is available from: United States Position Summary The Associate Director of Technical Accounting & M&A will play a key role in supporting complex accounting matters, including technical accounting research, implementation of new accounting standards, and accounting for mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and strategic investments. This role will partner closely with Corporate Accounting, FP&A, Legal, Tax, and external auditors to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with U.S. GAAP. The candidate will report up to Chief Accounting Officer of Natera, Inc. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting expertise, hands-on M&A experience, and the ability to operate independently in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. Key Responsibilities Technical Accounting • Serve as a subject matter expert on U.S. GAAP, including preparation of technical accounting memos and position papers for complex transactions. • Evaluate and implement new accounting standards and assess impacts on financial statements, processes, and controls. • Advise on accounting implications for revenue recognition, stock-based compensation, leases, business combinations, equity transactions, and other non-routine items. • Support quarterly and annual close processes by reviewing complex journal entries and disclosures. • Partner with external auditors to support audits and reviews, including responding to technical accounting inquiries. M&A and Strategic Transactions • Lead accounting due diligence for mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic transactions. • Prepare and review purchase price accounting, including valuation inputs, opening balance sheets, goodwill, and intangible assets. • Coordinate with Tax, Legal, FP&A, and external advisors to ensure accurate transaction accounting and integration. • Support post-acquisition integration from an accounting and reporting perspective. Cross-Functional Leadership • Collaborate with Finance, Legal, HR, and Business leaders to assess accounting impacts of business initiatives. • Help enhance internal controls, accounting policies, and documentation. • Mentor and review work prepared by junior team members or consultants, as applicable. • Assist with ad hoc projects and special initiatives as needed. Qualifications Required • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (Master’s preferred). • CPA required. • 8–10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including: • Public accounting (Big 4 or national firm strongly preferred). • Industry experience in a technical accounting or reporting role. • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements (if applicable). • Hands-on experience with M&A accounting and purchase accounting. • Proven ability to write clear, well-supported technical accounting memos. Preferred • Experience supporting a high-growth or complex organization. • Prior experience working closely with external auditors. • Strong project management and cross-functional collaboration skills. • Experience with SOX/internal controls is a plus.
