Mini Cat Town is nonprofit 501(c)(3) kitten rescue that rescues neonatal kittens from our shelter partner(s). We are a growing team of kittens, volunteers, fosters, and staff! Mini Cat Town is looking to expand our team by hiring an Animal Care Associate (ACA) for our Palo Alto location!

Our current need is Monday, Tuesday, and Friday from 11:30 AM- 7:30PM.

Job Overview:

The Animal Care Associate role is an integral part of our rescue. Animal Care Associates work closely with kittens, volunteers, guests, and adopters to make sure everything is running smoothly.

This position is located in Palo Alto, CA and may need travel between different stores (San Jose/Milpitas), to and from the vet, and shelter. Please have reliable transportation.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Has a love for kittens and animals.

  • Has a willingness to learn and further their skillset
  • Is punctual and reliable
  • Learns quickly
  • Has experience in customer service and POS (Square)
  • Is a self starter
  • Technology Savvy (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, POS)

Job Duties include but not limited to:

  • Checking in visitors to Mini Cat Town (including greeting, taking payments, instructing visitors to sign waivers, and going over and enforcing rules).
  • Administering medications and vaccinations to kittens including mixing, dosing, and drawing medication.
  • Hosting meetings with potential adopters.
  • Carrying and unpacking heavy boxes (40+ lbs)
  • Leading and educating a team of volunteers
  • Cleaning litterboxes and the adoption floor
  • Speaking to customers about Mini Cat Town and educating the community about rescue work, and spay/neuter

Required Skills:

  • Minimum 1 year working with cats in a professional setting (preferably in a veterinary setting). Personal pets do not count as experience.
  • Has experience with shelter software and POS systems OR is tech savvy
  • Has a high school diploma or GED.
