This role is an exciting opportunity to build a new product from the ground up within Optum Insight’s Innovation portfolio. Prior authorization can be the source of healthcare friction and delays, but advances in generative AI present the potential for transformative solutions that dramatically reduce the time and effort involved. The AI Product Owner, Digital Prior Authorization role will work closely with other product team members to partner with engineering to build, launch, and iterate AI-enabled products to be launched in 2025 that automate prior authorization approvals for payers. You’ll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. Primary Responsibilities: • Product Vision and Strategy: Lead the end-to-end product lifecycle-from ideation through launch and post-launch optimization-by aligning with business goals and the product roadmap, addressing customer needs, and collaborating with stakeholders • Backlog Management: Create, prioritize, and maintain the product backlog. Ensure that the development team has a clear understanding of the requirements and priorities • User Stories and Acceptance Criteria: Write clear and concise user stories/defects and acceptance criteria. Ensure that user stories and defects are well-defined and ready for development • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with stakeholders, including customers, business leaders, and development teams, to gather requirements, provide updates, and manage expectations • Sprint Planning and Review: Participate in sprint planning meetings to help the team understand the priorities and goals for each sprint. Review and accept completed user stories at the end of each sprint • User-Centric Mindset: Advocate for the end user by understanding their needs, behaviors, and pain points-especially within the prior authorization process • Continuous Improvement: Continuously evaluate and improve the product development process and implement best practices • Adaptability: Thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with evolving priorities and ambiguous challenges You’ll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in. Required Qualifications: • 2+ years of product management experience, including new product development • 1+ years of experience in external market product development (vs. internal tools) • 1+ years of experience building digital solutions • Experience in agile development environments • Familiarity with agile tools such as Rally (or similar) • Proven success partnering with engineering and cross-functional stakeholders • Proven solid technical acumen to translate business goals into technical requirements • Proven excellent communication and interpersonal skills Preferred Qualifications: • 1+ years of healthcare experience • Proven working knowledge of Optum & UnitedHealth Group • Proven understanding of the healthcare ecosystem including payers, providers and regulatory agencies • Demonstrated skills in data-driven decision making • Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage ambiguity • All employees working remotely will be required to adhere to UnitedHealth Group’s Telecommuter Policy Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $71,200 to $127,200 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
